How many members know that there are two 1955 Doubled Die Lincoln cents? I'm surprised at times that collectors so desire the FS-1955-101 { 021.8} yet have no idea of the 1955 FS-01-1955-102 {021.9} Which BTW is much rarer! The pups on this variety motto, date,Liberty is an URS- 6 an R- 5/6 coin. Years ago I did roll search 1955 Lincolns I never found the famous one but did find 10 of the 1955 ddo's FS-01-1955-102 [021.9] Sending them into ngc all came back in 64 and 65 grades some red and some RB. So if your still searching 1955's for a ddo...don't forget there are two....
Mod's please move this post to coin chat...my pad has been acting up...it needs to be replaced...as it now taking screen shots, and jumps to other windows...unknowingly. Thank you I need to be aware more of its issues.
Ah no the prize wasn't the coin....it was a cold water enema ...and Frank was the winner...so Frank the visiting nurse will be by your home first thing on Friday morning. So there are actually two runner up prizes 1 for Kentucky and 1 for Buddy16cat ....do either of you live near Frank?
I beg to differ. https://www.pcgs.com/auctionprices/item/1955-1c-ddo-fs-102-021-9-rd/37909/8956891678060332292
I kind-of see what they say, but I still doubt it. Hey @paddyman98 and other error mavens...what about it?
Well, any 1955 DDO has totally eluded me over the years. I had the chance to own the 101 a few decades ago for a really cheap price but I just could not get it at that moment The Poor man is MS63 RED so the premium is most likely for the grade.
Its not the poor mans ddo ... look it up in the cherry pickers guide. As if it was the poor mans I would of been in high cotton as those are very common to find. On that one Lincoln head has a huge die crack. ...now they may have changed the numbering on the variety. But it is in the CPG as well listed on the slab above... and the 10 I had sold from $300 -$500 each depending on grade and color.
I did know about the "Middle Class Man's" 1955 DDO. The 1955 you sent me a while back I thought it was for a moment, but a look under a loupe showed it wasn't, just a weak strike that looked like thickened lettering. I am on the lookout for one.
