Came across a set of Lincolns and was thinking about turning these in at the FUN Show to be graded. Opinions please and thanks in advance. 09-s vdb-2.jpg

Photo showing at top of post is the reverse of the 1909-S VDB

Do you have a better picture of the SVDB obverse? MM is correct for position #4 but it looks like significant gouging around it. The image posted is too pixelated when I zoom in.

Can't tell from your photo. How did you acquire the Lincolns?

Based on your pics, nothing jumps out to me as "details" or fakes; I would lean toward having them graded, particularly if you eventually want to liquidate one or all. Of course, in hand inspection is always optimal. Take them & discuss it with a grader or someone who has grading experience & can see them in person. Then make a decision.;)

IF you ever hope to sell them or even pass them on to your heirs, THEY SHOULD BE GRADED. If these coins are not fake, I do not need to tell you, you are holding enough $$$$$ to take your family to at least McDonalds. From what I could see in your photos, you will not be disappointed.

Bought coins from a lady on a couple of occasions after her husband died. Last time we met she said this set was her husband's prized possession. It had no sentimental value to her and her son, and they agreed to sell it. Also had a partial set which included a 14-d and a 31-s. They look really nice as a set. With the exception of one shiny common wheat, the toning balances very well. The Memorials, which go through 1974 are BU.

Thanks so much. In the album they make a gorgeous set. Pull them out and enlarge and you can see some imperfections. Best set I have owned and I realize the keys need authentication.

They are packed for the trip. I enlarged the photo and see what you are talking about. Think I will send them in. Will let you know how it comes out.

I hope the 09 S is real. At first glance, I thought the S was added to the coin, but having it in hand, you should be able to tell much better than I from a photograph.

Which certification service were you thinking about? I agree with the consensus here that they should be certified by one of the major services. Personally, I would go with PCGS to get the best return on resale.

I am thinking PCGS. Went to the Summer Fun Show in Orlando. I was number 8 in line. After one hour, I was number 6 in line. Decided to bring home and ship to them rather than spend hours in line. Could have gone directly to the front at NGC, ANACS, or ICG (?) I figured there is a reason there was a line at PCGS.

I think I would have gone with either NGC or ANACS rather than wait or bring them home to ship.
