I had to start somewhere so here is the full question. Here is my 1834 Small Date Small Letter Cape Bust I just purchased through auction. I did get it under value, and was quiet shocked.
I tried to register it with NGC but was informed it was tied to another individuals registry. I have emailed the previous business and have requested they remove it from their registry if they have it. However, if they say it is not tied to anyone there and can not give me another name, what do I do to show NGC I have this Cape Bust ?

Thanks and can't wait to hear back.

Typically it is an automatic process. When you add it to your collection, you will get that message. They send a message to the owner on file and if they don't respond in a certain amount of time it is transferred to you. The same has happened to me.

thank you Chris B, I have looked at the NGC site and located information about slab registers. They email each person and then after 3 days they will make a change in ownership. I'll wait and see.

I've run into the same issue. The process if pretty simple. Add it to your registry. If it is registered by someone else, you'll get a message to that effect. NGC will notify the other party to either confirm or deny they still have it. If they get no reply from the other party, they will add it to your registry. At least that how it has worked for me. Good luck.

Something else that you can do is to send NGC a photograph of the coin showing the certification number. That works at PCGS if you can't get satisfaction from the previous owner.

yup yup is generaly just a matter of waiting the 3 days, most sellers know this and just don't bother to "release" an item after sale...

I want to thank all those who commented on the post. I was contacted by NGC four days after acquiring my Capped Bust and it now in my registry. Never had this happen before so good it's now done.
