2021 D Mason Countermark Quarter

Discussion in 'Coin Roll Hunting' started by Kelly Langford, Jul 3, 2022.

  1. I have read up on countermarks and know there are some coveted ones out there. Obviously this one is not a big money maker but why is this a thing? I see them sell for a tiny premium on Ebay but its post mint damage/altered. I guess on the one hand I can say that at least it keeps collecting interesting but I would imagine serious collectors wouldn't touch one of these with a 10 foot pole.
I do think its cool to see a mason symbol stamped beside a Master Mason.... 20220703_220601.jpg 20220703_220550.jpg PICT0005.jpg PICT0006.jpg
Do any of you fellow numismatists have thoughts on these?

Some people collect Masonic stamped coins. Some go back years and are found on all denominations.

I like to collect counter marks and I have a number of these, just not on a newer coin. Yours is a Mason counter mark.

What coin that you don’t have is the one you want the most. Gotta be something not in the same category like the 1913 V nickel. Or that 1933 $20 coin
