I have read up on countermarks and know there are some coveted ones out there. Obviously this one is not a big money maker but why is this a thing? I see them sell for a tiny premium on Ebay but its post mint damage/altered. I guess on the one hand I can say that at least it keeps collecting interesting but I would imagine serious collectors wouldn't touch one of these with a 10 foot pole. I do think its cool to see a mason symbol stamped beside a Master Mason.... Do any of you fellow numismatists have thoughts on these?
Some people collect Masonic stamped coins. Some go back years and are found on all denominations. masonic stamped coins
I like to collect counter marks and I have a number of these, just not on a newer coin. Yours is a Mason counter mark.
What coin that you don’t have is the one you want the most. Gotta be something not in the same category like the 1913 V nickel. Or that 1933 $20 coin
