"Build it and they will come"
Oh I started this one because I thought we should have our own topic and not be hijacking Penny Fanatic's post. Yes Krispy I just got back from the bank and it seems my road is long too. No real notes in my collection that I will count. But I think I already have one on the way. And will post as soon as I get it.
I might be really tempted to try Philadelphia or Cleveland, who knows, maybe both. It would be much easier for me to do this because unlike mostly all collectors I prefer circulated notes. I don't know if that meets the criteria for this group, let me know. I won't be offended if you are only looking for uncirculated collectors. Thanks, John
I just made a group for us too if you guys like it just join. And I have no problem with an circ set reiljj00. Many of mine will end up being that when I get nationals or tough notes.
Duke: will do, going to join the group now... reiljj00: I will have some circulated notes in mine to begin with but will always strive for the best quality I can afford.
So I have: http://www.jakesmp.com/CSD_Books/CSD_Bks_018_M.html http://search.barnesandnoble.com/A-...-Paper-Money/Arthur-Friedberg/e/9780794823627 Which do you guys like better or is there another I should be using?
Compreshesive Catalog of US Paper Money by Hessler/Chambliss Small Size US Paper Money Edition 9 Schwartz/Lindquist Two most excellent resources. Oh and FYI.. Whitman has a book out that is pretty cool.. It's Titled: A Check List and Record Book of United States Paper Money..for $9.95 Nice book to log all your notes in with a "Grade" and Comments" Section for each note. I have 2 one for the SDB and one at my computer. RickieB
Well I do have Compreshesive Catalog of US Paper Money by Hessler/Chambliss For this project it looks like I'm gonna go back and reread this. I should have plenty of time doing that as I work on my set And it's official...my first is on the way to me so count me down for: 1 of 500 lol Or with nationals should I raise that number?
Duke mine also needs to be edited as i also go for the star notes for those that havent seen my collection its all right here. http://www.banknotebank.com/?collection=NUTZFORCHITOWN well except for about 10 or 15 notes i havent added :thumb:
So Urban you have many ungraded ones. How did you decide which to get graded or not? Or did they decide? Does Rickey's have ungraded ones too?
yes i have quite a few ungraded notes. thats actually what i started with. it took awhile for me to start buying graded ones. i plan on sending out about 100 or more notes in the next few months to PMG to be graded. yes RickieB has ungraded notes as well. we both try to go for AU or better notes. i do have many circulated newer notes that i had pulled from work. the rest i get in auctions. here are 2 key note i need to get graded. the first one i got for $80 it books for about $550 in CU and the second note i got for about $150 and books for $1500 in CHCU condition 1928 C $10 FRN *LIGHT GREEN SEAL* 1934 A $20 **MULE** **STAR NOTE** **LIGHT GREEN SEAL**
Whitman Encyclopedia of Paper Money - the 2010 version of this is on the way to me. I cannot wait to take a peek!
Whoa I could use some deals like that. Nice notes. And I"m glad I'm not going for bills above $20's as some of them and their *'s are big money...
Well while reading and taking some notes when I get a decent amount done in this set I'll want to move to 1915 to date. But that will wait at least a year... I have found a tough KC note...1934-B $5. It's FR#1958J with only 73k made and cost $4k. Yikes And some of the $20's are kind of high too so I'm focusing on $10's and less but won't turn down a nice higher denom for a good price.
Well I thought I would post some $50's that I have scanned... Hope you like em..if ya want to see some $100's let me know.. RickieB
lol I have been a paper money guys for years. I usually just pick it up when I like it. It's like a huge type set. I have lots of: fractionals, nationals, FRN's, large, obsoletes, FRNB's, MCP's, Legal Tender, Silver Certs and even Nice sets of Columbian Expo tickes. Just most of mine is lower grade and not like yours. With this I am trying to stay focused on one thing and having high grade which is quite a switch for me. So Thank you for numbing my mind
