First of all, to do something which is against my nature, I would like to apologize if this is not the right place to post this inquiry. I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to social media even though Coin Talk is one I pay attention to every day. I "read" a lot but post infrequently. Even my granddaughter does not appreciate my blather. To the point - I was perusing the SAFE supplies catalogue when I came across a Pocket Video Loupe. My question is does anybody have any knowledge or opinion on this product. I did a search of the World Wide Cobweb and couldn't find anything like it. It is a magnifying video/picture taker, pocket size. For a number of years, from time to time, I have contemplated something to take pictures of my coins but always seem to get diverted and frustrated - mainly 'cause I don't need another hobby and it seems that coin photography is just that. I am always looking for an easy way out. Thanks ... george
I just took a look, but I've not seen anything like it before now. Looks interesting, and if it works as advertised, would be a boon for someone like me who doesn't know a thing about photography other than point and shoot. Interesting!
Maybe I missed someone saying this already, but if you're using a DSLR camera, you must Sharpen the photo in post processing, or it will always look like it's not quite in focus. I might recommend Photoshop CS, it's monthly, $9.95, but the things you can do with it is truly amazing. You're asking how to separate the coin from the background and the new Photoshop has a great one click process for this. I believe I have already given that info out, but if anyone wants to know step by step, I'll be happy to post that process again.
To separate coin from background, sort of, I just put vignette to max white and it tends to isolate the coin with a pure white background. see:
