Has anyone bought coins from the ma-shops.com before? They look reputable and am wondering if anyone here has experience before I wade into the water. 100% of my online purchases come from eBay at the moment and there are several coins I’m looking for that just aren’t on there. Thanks.
They're are a few bored ancient folks left that hang around here. I really wish they would get over their boycott. Being an influential follower. Groupthink based on knowledge is one thing. Playing politics with the rules is another. It's sad that you may not get an answer... We used to pride ourselves on the answers.
ma-shops has been a member here for 14 years. Some people have posted that they purchased from them so you should eventually get an answer.
I've purchased from several of the dealers on MA-shops platform. The dealers for the most part, have their business/shops in Europe. Quality coins at what are fair prices. I would check the postage rates though. I've used the MA-shops platform for 10+ years. In the dozens of purchases from several of the dealers, I never had a bad experience. There is a similar platform here in the U.S. They pale in comparison. The MA-shops dealers all accept PayPal. You would need to discuss with the individual dealer other payment options. I highly recommend MA-shops. If you have any questions ask me here or by PM.
I highly recommend @ma-shops There are dealers that have inventory that I just can't find in the states. As with any platform, proceed with caution. I'm sure there are dealers that aren't as good as others.
Yes. I have purchased both high value gold and lower value silver from them. Apart from some Covid-related postal delays, nothing but good experiences to report.
It's a platform, so you may want to check the T&C of the individual sellers too. Plenty of US sellers there too. But I see it as easy access to world coin dealers.
I've used it several times with good results. Some sellers have really high shipping so you have to watch that. I had one order lost in the mail and it was insured and seller gave me a refund with no problems.
Hi Joe, I work with MA-Shops.com and am happy to answer any questions you may have. We've been in business since 2005, and presently have over 1 million items, with ongoing live updates to inventory. All items are guaranteed for authenticity, and all sellers have been vetted and certified. You can set up alerts for items you're looking for, and much more. As mentioned by others in this thread, you can shop with confidence at MA-Shops.com. Thanks for reading and happy collecting!
Do you realize this is in the World Coins Forum...although I agree that I wish the Ancients Forum people would return.
Thanks everyone and thanks @ma-shops for responding!!! I’ll dig into the site and see if I can find the ~20 or so issues I’m missing for my collection. Thanks again.

One of my collecting interests is German States coinage and I've used dealers on ma-shops to get some really nice examples I just can't find here on US sites. As stated before, since many of the dealers are based in Europe, if your interests lie in those countries, it's really a godsend for finding issues of those countries. Shipping may be steep at times, depending on where the coins originate, but in my opinion, it's worth it. I usually spread this out by waiting and buying several coins at one time. Plus, you can get email alerts when new items from your searches are listed, which is quite helpful.
Just got something in the mail from one of the dealers this week. Mentally I think of it like VCoins. A platform for reputable dealers.
I noticed a reference to an alternate/new site since deleted (and I forgot the name of it). Was there some drama over on the Ancient side? I'm no solid ancients collector but wouldn't mind keeping up with a forum.
Yeah, in the interests of arguing a point, a user got upset and made enough infractions that they got banned. The new forum is numisforums, Google it for the address
Every dealer on MA-Shops can be relied on to take your money and send you the coin you wanted. They don't all grade accurately. And they don't all call out "problem" coins. They don't all price well. You have to learn which ones are the good ones and which ones to be cautious of.
