Came out of my box of coins I stashed away 50 years ago. I think the MM is doubled or tripled plus a faint outline of a MM south of the main MM. Any thoughts? Thanks: Lou
http://varietyvista.com/09b WQ Vol 2/RPMs 1959-D.htm Doesn't match either of the two on VV but still Could be something.
Remember this. Mint marks cannot be doubled die in 1959. They were hand punched into the die by hand. Repunched mint mark yes but not doubled nor tripled.
No… what you are seeing is die deterioration and minor strike doubling on the east side of that MM. The line under the MM appears to be a stain…imo…Spark
Nope not at all. Jealousy is not part of my vocabulary or feelings. I am very satisfied with my mint error and variety collection. 36 years worth
Well I can see what you're saying about the east, however there is still something going on in the northwest area. As far as what's under the MM - perhaps my pic doesn't show very well, but it's not just a line - it appears to be a faint outline of a 'D' with an interior portion (hard to see). Appreciate your input and expertise. Thanks: Lou
