Payout couldn't believe it. I passed the coin star first. There was a guy using it.
My Kiddo bought his own goodies with his hard earned money, and B day money.
Said there was a handful down in the return tray. didn't see the guy that left it.
As we were walking back in. Some 60 to 70 year old man is in the tray swiping the take.
I hope he had a good score.. we were seconds late to the party.

Hope he joins CT or if he is a member well done.

A lesson learned. The Senior citizens of the world usually need it more than the rest of us and the Kids should of been thinking, "Hey, maybe we should return it to the Lost/found". ;)

Years ago, when CoinStars were fairly new, I tried returning coins I'd found in the CoinStar reject slot to the customer counter. Total blank stares. "If someone left them there, help yourself." (Not quite the look of contempt that I got the one time I found a five-dollar bill on the floor and handed it to an associate, though. A look that said "Geeze, you're stupid for not keeping this yourself." I think he may have already been putting it in his pocket as I turned to walk away.)

I've always told myself that if I saw someone packing up and walking away from the machine leaving coins in the reject slot, I'd say something to them. I don't think I've ever actually gotten the opportunity, though. My "don't be creepy" filters prevent me from hanging around and watching someone as they finish feeding the machine.

I did such a return one day. What happened was that I saw a young woman finish having her change counted and walk away from the CoinStar. I glanced in the return slot and saw a lot of change there. Because I had just seen the woman walk away and she wasn't far from me, I quickly decided she needed the money more than I did so I told her about what she was leaving behind. She thanked me profusely, of course. If I hadn't seen her, I would have had no qualms about helping myself. A day or two ago, I found a Lincoln cent in a reject slot that was so bad I actually threw it in the trash when I got home. Of course, I haven't yet emptied the trash so I may still retrieve it!

I have made some pretty good finds in our local Walmart CoinStar.

Great thread. Thanks. I just assume find a coin that I have no idea what it is. Have a Herb ox BOUILLON cube jar full of them. No Canada either

Your honorable. Me too. I get coffee and a paper in my city travel every day first thing. . I couldn’t tell you how many times they they give me 20$ change when I give them 10$. I just give the 10 back. That’s the right thing to do. Wish Dear Abby was a CT member

Took my daughter to the airport Tuesday. Walking in from the garage and saw a very nice busted gold chain. Nearby was a rather hefty gold “mom” medallion with a heart and some tiny diamonds. I hunted down the airport lost and found and received the very same “are you crazy or what” looks from the two working in that little office.
