An honorable goal, next are the holy roman emperors?
Here my current status on that quest (Some holed pieces between, Maximilian II., Rudolph II. and Matthias are missing):

One day I might too but sadly I have the thesis that most silver coins from the three emperors I'am missing have been melted during the thirty years war. It possible to get hungarian denars of them but I want at least a 3 Kreuzer piece with a portrait on it.

My goal is still to get a coin of Charles V. from Naples. Currently I only have a jeton possibly minted in the spanish-netherlands dated to 1546-1555 by a dutch museum.

Now I'm confused, were there two Ferdinand I? What am I missing?
I got this one as Ferdinand I, Archduke of Austria from 1521, king of Bohemia and Hungary from 1526, king of Croatia from 1527, and Holy Roman Emperor from 1558, until his death.

Gold Gulden, KB, Körmöcbánya (Kremnitz) 1530
    21 mm, 3.552 g
    Markl 1265 (or 1241?); Huszár 895; Friedberg 48
Ob: Crowned Madonna seated with child, on crescent facing; coat-of-arms below; FERDINAND•D G•R VNGARIE•
Rev.: Figure (the emperor) crowned and cuirassed, standing facing, holding helbart in one hand and imperial orb in the other; S LADISLAVS REX KB 1530

and this is a different Ferdinand I, emperor from 1835 until his abdication in 1848:

    1 Dukat, Vienna (mintmark A), 1837
    20 mm, 3.490 g
    KM 2262; Friedberg 481; J. 247; Schl. 272

    Rev.: Crowned double headed imperial eagle with value at center;

The first Ferdinand I was Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, which was finally put out of its misery by Napoleon in 1806. By that time it had for a long time. to quote Voltaire, been neither "holy nor Roman nor an empire". It was succeeded by the Austrian Empire, still a sprawling territory over much of central and east Europe but with no claims of authority over the German states. The last Holy Roman Emperor Franz II became the first Emperor of Austria as Franz I. His son was your second Ferdinand I.

Thank you so much @talerman :) For me their number is confusing; it would be better if either a second name or something to differentiate which one is meant is included for people (like me) who are not familiar with them :D

Ferdinand 1835-48 was really Ferdinand V. There were four Ferdinands before him. Franz II was HRE from 1792-1806 techically. Ferd. I/ II/ III/ IV were HREs. Ferd. V just Emperor of Austro-Hungarian Empire. I still need Ferdinand IV. He became HRE in 1653 died of Smallpox in 1654. 9abd7c4941789df2c02b4a9a4f13febb.jpg 17cd65c29f4ec80e05ffbbef3eed6282 (1).jpg 00133q00.jpg 00196q00.jpg 01181q00.jpg f5d2ab03ca76e995b53be1c4294754c4.jpg ferdinand-ii-house-of-habsburg-br-5540624-XL.jpg

Your Ferdinands are impressive @panzerman ! Congrats

Thank you for your info about Ferd. I who really is Ferd. V - the Ferdinand matter is getting hard to understand  they could have been more creative in the naming of their sons LOL

    Beautiful !

Although the Ferdinand you call Ferdinand IV, the eldest son of Emperor Ferdinand III, was elected King of the Romans, the traditional title of the next Emperor, in 1653, he died in 1654 before his father and was never Emperor. As far as I know there are no coins in his name, although there may well be medals, perhaps some in gold struck specially for you.

In Friedberg/ there was a Dukat from Tsechen/ Silesia struck in 1646! That is the only AV coin stuck in his name. I am surprised that no coins were made in 1653/54. For ex. I have Ottoman AV 100/ 50 Piastres from Murad V dated 1876. He was Sultan for 3 months, before being deposed by Turkish authorites on account of having mental issues. The HRE mints were a bit slow....off to work.
