This thread is a spinoff on the GTG format, but instead of guessing the assigned grade of the TPG, you will assign your grade by only looking at one side of the coin. But don't worry, the other side will be revealed at the end of the thread. So, assuming that the obverse has the same level of surface preservation as the reverse, which it does (sorta), what grade would you assign? Please cast your vote in the attached poll.

Based on just seeing the reverse, i will go MS 65. Some contact marks keep it low gem for me, and it is not FS. Nice luster, though.

I went with 66. I'm thinking most of the marks were there when the coin was struck.

66 due to weak strike / die deterioration.

67 due to eye appeal and luster.

    67 overall

I'm at MS66. It has a few very small dings but overall is very clean. Booming luster but struck by a really tired die. I think the die state limits it to a 66.

I’m gonna predict the obverse has some kind of epic die deterioration.

MS 66....clean and lustrous with a few marks that keep it out of a 67

The distribution of grades offered in the poll is very strange. As many people think the coin is AU58 as they do MS67. In the end, it doesn't really matter, a huge wheel mark spoiled the party.

That's a real shame with the obverse. What would you grade the reverse?

The reverse is 66+ with a shot a 67. The obverse without the wheel mark is MS66.

Pretty coin, but the wheel mark killed the obverse. I guess it is probably enough to call it MS details. Take away the wheel mark, and the obverse is a 67, with a 65+ reverse, which makes it 66. So, it is a 66 details coin, unfortunately.
