Jesse P, try setting up an account with photobucket.com (if you don't have one). Then you can upload much better and bigger pics for the pros to see.
If you have a loupe, try shooting the coin through the loupe. You should be able to get some detailed shots. I just use a cheapie 3.1mp camera. Here's my set-up: and the result: With a little practice with the lighting you should do okay.
hey nice trick i need to wait till day light my lights are all tungstin in my house lol my pics come out better with natural light with my camera.thanks for the tip though and i will try to use the loupe
well its nice to go from books like cherrypickers and so on.but new varieties pop up all the time.you must be in doubt for sure if to good to be true but open to possibilities.this 1970 coin is exactly made like my s small date short 7 looped 9 straight across the top.all other 1970 p no mint the one is higher and 7 drops below the 0.
go to www.lincolncentresource.com or www.coppercoins.com and they will tell you how to differenciate (spelling?) between the two.
Jesse it's the 1970-S SMDT that we are interested in because it a rare coin and in demand and a known variety. There is nothing worng with trying to find new things but you are forgetting one major point, and I mean major! All 1970's P,D, and S have been looked at to death already for the doubled dies and RPM's. In this case if there was another type date hubbing it would have been found, or does not matter. Sure anything is possible but if I searched with that critera in mind first and formost I'd be still searching the coins I was looking at in 2001. It's always what is findable, what brings you money or satifaction on discovery and what is likley combined with, for the most part, already discovered well known and valued dies. I applaud your stick to it'ness but what you are ultimatly going to find, maybe sooner maybe later is the time spent on these coins that are nothing and/or very minor ("who cares") coins is taking away from your time that could be used finding something and learning what I'm trying to tell you. That is going to be "your moment of clearity" if you will and that you can obtain now or obtain it later. This is my best advice - it's up to you. As a member on here I take seriously thoses posting that are headed for true die varieties or other questions with substance and start to ignore those that post every little thing whether it matter of not. Make it matter is my best advice for you if you want to evolve here.
