mint set maximum mintage at 15,000 instead of 40.000 for FS gold series. man. even 10,000 max. it won't sell out.

Why would the mint make different quantities for each? That just doesnt
    Make much sense!!

When, in recent years, has the Mint purported to make any sense or operate logically???

people are talking about buying abigail fillmore FS 1/2 oz gold. because the mint just reduce the max to mere 15,000. it might be a sell out. who knows. and again. people like buchanan's liberty FS and mary lincoln FS. it look like no body mention jane pierce. this is the one i am looking for. the forgotten one.

they roll out one by one with plenty of online attention plus the FS collectors seem pretty focused... if you think you're the only one watching that 'forgotten one' you better be quick and ready when they go on sale. :)

    Well, I agree with Elaine...sorta.

I predict the new, lower mintage with "unlimited" sales will result in Dealers swooping in on the first day of sales, cherryingpicking the best for grading, and returning the rest.

Although there will be coins available from the Mint once the returns start rolling in, those will be picked over coins and a step below what you might receive if you place your order on Day #1.

If you don't get your order in this Thursday, you may have to pay a premium to a Dealer for a top example. :hammer:

Btw, "technically" (according to the official announcement on the Mint's webpage) this lower mintage level only applies to the Abigail Fillmore issue. I suspect the Mint will fine tune the mintages issue by issue...until they get it right.

total FS gold mintage as of today:

    proof - 132,049
    unc --- 103,681

it looks like the proof version is better than unc. one.

abigail fillmore first few days might be a disaster. for uncirculated. i guess it won't even pass 100.

EDIT: The Mint announced it will adjust mintage year-by-year with this year's mintage to be 15,000 across all product lines for all issues except the Mary Lincoln, which will be 20,000 across all product lines.

As in "better" you mean higher mintage....which is not necessarily better of course.

Add two more to the totals. I hated to pay those prices, but I didn't want to have to start looking for these on the secondary market.
