Okay, what to do with this one? Its clearly a altered 44-D! It also shows tooling in the area of the designers initials! The seller states its a modified date! The bidding is up to $39.00 for this crap coin! The person buying this isn't doing so for their collection! NOTE! the seller has other coin listings stating modified dates! https://www.ebay.com/itm/384913078860?hash=item599e9b7a4c:g:fcYAAOSwgvVikD5C
Seller is trying to be mischievous and knows the issue. But still wants to make a quick buck and by the auction record for this coin it's working!!!!.
FWIW, it takes less than 5 minutes to report every single one of this seller's fake/fraudulent/misleading items.
Me neither, currently the bidding is up to $42.00 and I'm still thinking that the people watching this piece of garbage is cons thinking about profits, no one is going to put that kind of money in a poorly altered coin like that for their collection! I'm reaching out on this one (& his others) for extra leverage!
He is selling exactly what he says he's selling. If someone else wants it he should be allowed to sell it. Sorry guys...no pitchforks needed here.
It technically is misleading as the people obviously think it's a 1914-D and shouldn't be for sale in the first place. The people bidding are probably going to try to re-sell it to make much more money. So it seems like you don't realize how this crap Is ruining the hobby and shouldn’t be allowed.
Nope! But he knows he's not selling them to collectors too, and he has other Modified coins. He knows he's marketing these to scammers. These coins are fraudulent altered coins being sold with intent to scam the less knowledgeable (unaware) collectors.
People buying a real 1914-D will look up what those are supposed to look like. It clearly states modified date. It's called buyer beware. The description says modified date. Now if he tried to sell it with out it saying modified date in the description then that should be taken down. Most coin collectors will know this is a key date and will do the research in knowing what they are supposed to look like.
The seller is absolutely misleading people. That coin is not and has never been a 1914 D. Listing it as a "1914 D modified date" means it's a 1914 D that has had the date altered. That is intentionally misleading. The correct way to list it would be "1944 D modified date" - but then the seller wouldn't get any bids, and they know that. So they list it as a 1914 D and price it as such. It's intentionally misleading and the seller knows exactly what they are doing. All their raw coins are like that - titles have a key date in them (yes, with the words modified date, but not the date it was altered from) and are priced as key dates. They also have a bunch of replica tokens that aren't stamped as copies or replicas, which is yet another clear violation of eBay policies. That kind of nonsense should be enough to get someone kicked off a sales platform.
A coin like this should not BE SOLD like this! It has NO VALUE other than face value! and to scam people! A coin shop would not BUY this coin for any reason other than to get it out of circulation, or to destroy it. People who would pay $40 + for it has PLANS for it, back on ebay as genuine, Flea Market, itsy, ect.... Its being sold the way it is for the end purpose of CONS! I see these altered 44-D on fleabay all the time being sold as genuine, what the hobby don't need is marketable sources for them. And if they sell for 40 plus dollars these frigging things will be everywhere. They should not be SOLD! they're nothing but a skinner coin, they're are for the purpose of deception (Evil Intent)
Are both of you equally okay with Alibaba's completely up-front and non-deceptive listings for counterfeit key dates, silver-plated base-metal copies, and tungsten-cored gold?
I have had some background chat going with a person that's pretty well up on ebay policies and thus far what I'm finding out is no matter how the seller list it, or what they call it, its against ebay policies.
