I got this in a foreign coin bag today. I can not find out much about it nor the exact coin. Can someone give me any details as to authentic or replica and value? Thank you. It weighs 3.2 grams.
You'd have to figure out if it's silver to figure that out. None of us can tell you that from a photo. Even if it relatively high purity silver, at best it would be about $2
Yes, an easily discernable fake, based on the lettering, the style of Nero's bust and the even flan and metal... makes me think it's pressed rather than struck. There is even a little "R" on the reverse under the temple of Vesta, which makes me think it may have been a coin struck promotionally. I remember many years ago they had similar giveaways whenever you bought a package of biscotti back in Italy.
Cast, I suspect, despite the flow lines that survived the casting process. Nearly identically shaped flans, and identical negatives spaces beyond the beaded borders, on all three above - the OP coin and the two from the fake reports.
