Here's my find-of-the-day from a roll search. Sadly, the date is pretty much gone - I wish I'd discovered it about 25 years ago. Any guesses?
I'm seeing a 1912S. Don't know why? Maybe intuitiveness? It could happen as rare as that may be. I just got a thought about the Titanic and went with it sadly as that may be. It could be a 1918S as well. We may not ever know Sir for real.
Messed around with the contrast and brightness a bit to see if anything showed up. Not really, though I think the third digit is a "1". When I have old billon coins with very poor contrast, I find holding them in bright sunlight at an oblique angle I can often see details that I can't capture in a photograph, especially if I rotate them at various orientations. You could also try doing a rubbing of the surface with a soft pencil edge and thin paper. Good luck.
They sure did. My album coin 1918-S is actually my nicest mintmarked teens/twenties Lincoln. Even has traces of original red left over!
Meow has been busy with Cat stuff. Still CRH, but been getting a lot of BU rolls. So Meow just keeps them.
I am with others, I see a 1918 S. Definitely an S, the 8 possibly could be a 6 but my first look and I would label it a 18S.
I would get one sir. Amazon has decent ones for about $20. Money well spent in the hobby sir, and you never know when it can come in handy. My wife uses it for random things on occasion. If only for CRH, it can quickly answer questions about oddball things you may run across.
