Well, this is a coin that you would see in a museum and never think you will have a chance to own. It is a medallic issue, Year 1675, Double Taler of Leopold "The Hogmouth". Rare in any grade, I had to part from a few of my other coins (and some cash) to get this one raw.

I would assume that even non-Taler collectors can appreciate the beauty of this one.

Not putting the "liteside" to shame, I had to do this as the size is enormous, 65MM .:D

I view this as a big personal collecting milestone. My wife doesn't :)

All I can say is WOW ... well maybe WOW WOW !!

Congratulations my friend. An incredible coin in quality of preservation, size and I'm sure rarity.

I would assume old Hogmouth himself would be proud of you for adding this masterpiece of him to your collection.

    Again .... WOW

Im sorry people for my ignorance.
My jaw drops when I look at the detail, and saw the date 1675. My eyes widened when i saw the size of that dudes lower lip.
My question is, is this a British coin? What country.
Im just so out of touch with foreign coins.
    Thanks

Zohar, any ideas on the mintage numbers/surviving examples?

I wish I knew. Some mintages are in the hundred. I have this 2 Taler with a mintage of 834, yet I have yet to see a reference book that states mintages and more importantly, survival rate.
