Hi , The same microscope/camera has been around for at least 25 years when I purchased one with a different name. The resolution is 640x480 which is a low end one ~ approximately 2.0 mpx resolution. The companies consider that the magnification value is not the actual resolution , but how big they can blow it up on the screen so that is where the image gets a 1,000X value for magnification. It is the same resolution my first cell phone had for a camera. The problem is that it is fine for a whole coin photograph, but when you try to use it with a small item such as part of a RPM or damage, the software adds in false blocks to fill a screen. It usually does this by looking at the surrounding areas and adding some image color close to it. But it is very inexpensive or as a starter. I am not criticizing by any means, but I do not like to see reading 1,000X and thinking it is true. The actual resolution is how small detail can be seen, and that is the important thing. I still have my old camera as it is useful to check out a coin album, or a desk full of CRH coins and so can this one, just be careful on extremely specific oddities. Best wishes , Jim
