These are the two coins I won in the auction: 1803 C-4 Draped Bust Half Cent, EAC Grade F-12 (12/10) 1805 C-4 Draped Bust Half Cent, EAC Grade VF-25 (30/20+)
To get as many of the date/variety combinations as I can reasonably afford. Not surprisingly, as the value goes up, the grade goes down.
I've read a few of your posts. The half cents you've posted are top notch. From what I see, you've not hit the threshhold you mentioned yet.
Really nice coins, Kanga. I was an avid Half Cent collector about 30 years ago but it faded away. But after seeing your coins I can easily get the spark back. I remember in the mid 1990s I bought an 1811 C2 for $40. Maybe I should have bought more. Thanks for the photos.
I remember buying it at a small strip mall coin show in St. Paul and being surprised that was all the dealer wanted. I think he was mostly a seller of Morgans and maybe didn't research it that much. No worries - I am sure I overpaid on a few Little Sisters.
I chased three or four items in the sale. Only bought two and only one that was significant. I also picked up on the bourse floor an 1801 NC-1 F-12 net VG-7 (7th finest known) and a 1794 S-38 in G-5. Sorry no pictures of the last two. I'm up to 269 varieties now including 9 NC's.
