That is proper usage (drops), but I've found that putting it in an airtite with just enough to cover it (10-15 drops) and let it soak for an hour or 2 results in a more even color and easier removal of verdigris and debris (q tip and toothpick used as well for that) This method is NOT recommended by the makers of VC, however after considerable experimentation over several years (most are posted here) I have found this soak to be one of the best ways to remove stuborn dirt and grit (as well as verdigris) and I have yet to have a negative result from doing this or I wouldn't risk doing it to a washington cent lol
