This Sunday, the 14th, is Selection Sunday! For those of you that don't know it is when they choose the college basketball teams that will play in the NCAA Championship tournament. The contest is to submit a bracket with who you think will win each game of the tournament. This contest is open to everyone who joined in February 2010 or before that. Starting Sunday after they announce the teams, go to the following site: http://cointalk.mayhem.cbssports.com/e You will need to sign up with an account so that you can submit your bracket. Once you have picked your teams, you will still be able to change them until the start of the first game. After that, your choices are locked in. In addition, you will need to guess the score of the final game to be used as a tie breaker. Scoring will be a little bit different for those of you who have done this sort of thing before. Round One will be scored using the seed plus rule. So, for round one you get one point plus whatever the seed was of the team who one. For example, if a number one ranked team wins their game and you call it you would get two points: one for the round itself and one for the teams seed. This means that picking your upsets will be even more important and can make up for some later round bad picks. The rest of the rounds will be scored normally: 2 points for second round correct picks, 4, 8, 16, and finally 32 for each round after. The person with the highest number of points will be winner. If there is a tie it will be broken with the guess you made on the final score. I will be putting in a bracket as well to see how I stack up against the rest of you, but if I come out in a position that would get a prize(unlikely), it will be passed down to the next person. Now for the prize: An 1889-O Morgan. I can't say it is in the best shape, but it is still a nice piece of silver. Right now there is only this first prize, but if we get 20-30 people on here, I will add another one or two. Two last things: Post on this thread once you make your bracket and the cbs site uses your real name to track your bracket, so if you don't want that to show up, put your user name in the name area of the sign up. Good Luck!
That is why I changed it up a bit. If you pick the right upsets in the first round, you may not even have to guess the right "winner" to still win (assuming that the other people didn't pick the same upsets :goofer
ETA : What's the password? /Edit Oh, I'm in! My team is on the bubble (Georgia Tech), but this is my favorite time of year! I literally have taken vacation days on Thursday and Friday, so I can drink in the morning and watch all the first round games. It's my Christmas. Joe
it was close today - I missed the game but got to listen to post game report....they do need some work, but it is the best team we have had for awhile. Speedy
When do we get the password. BTW Watch out for Evan Turner and the BUCKEYES!!!! OH...........................................................IO! OH...........................................................IO! OH...........................................................IO!
There is great doubt over wether the Illini will even make the tourney, they are an indoor plumbing team, they run hot and cold, they have beaten many top 25 teams this year, then got beat by underdogs, if they make it they could have one more upset in them.
Are they even going to make the NIT? BTW I rooted for them against Florida for the first 5 mininutes whn the score was 20 - 0. Then I gave up
Easily the best since 1996, Talent wise were head and shoulders above every other team in the country but we are young and do make mistakes.....If they can focus and ignore all the hype around them then no team will touch us.
Ok, the bracket is up so be sure to fill it out by the start of the first game! Just remember the password is cointalk and to post here after you enter. Good Luck!
