It's official, Prices are Insane. Well maybe they're from Eddy. As we all know, "AT CRAZY EDDY, PRICES ARE INNNNNSSSSAAAANNNNE!!!!!"
Sorry, I must have been sleepy last night. Here's the other one (I did post the correct links though): Ha! I forgot all about Crazy Eddie. I believe he ended up in prison.
The sad part is there are people that will buy them thinking they're nice and a good price. All they bought was silver and would likely get less than melt for the coins. I know an Ebay dealer that would put junk coins up for sale on Ebay with some stupid comments about the coin and people would buy them. The people that buy this stuff don't do any research or even own books on coins. Buying a basic Red Book or even a grading guide would save them a lot of money and they even enjoy the hobby more.
Sadder is when that buyer or his heirs go to a dealer to sell their precious items and find out how little they are worth. Of course, they never accept personal blame, instead telling everyone who will listen how the coin collecting hobby is full of cheats and shysters and stay away from it. I have seen this repeated hundreds of times. As the only ancient collector at a local coin club I looked at coins brought to our coin show for everything not US. Many, many times when I told the people they were fakes, they were junk late romans, etc I was blamed, not the idiot who did not educate themselves to learn themselves. I was called a thief after telling a family all of their ancient Jewish coins are fake, even though I never offered to buy them!
many people have what i call the profit driven ego issue where profit and making major $$$ is #1 they care not how they make it as long as they can feed that ego and make that major $$$
Morgan dollars don’t really fit the bill of major dollars, but I am sure if he’s doing it with those other money making ventures aren’t far off !
