My wife and I are vacationing in Gettysburg this week. Feel free to post a coin from the Civil War era, specifically 1863.

A year later, but still somewhat relevant to this thread.

Here's a couple I like in my collection.
I have lots of medals though ( I think )

Years ago I owned some land in Fairfield Pa. Its down rt 117 towards the under ground Pentagon burried in the mountains. Not far from Camp David....if its still open the Fairfield inn had a very nice menu for dinner. As well more Civil War history the battle of Fairfield to take or hold the covered bridge leading into Gettysburg. I highly recommend the Apple Harvest festival in the fall...
Adams co Pa. Grows more apples in that county than any state in the union.

Gettysburg is only about 40 minutes from where I live. Have a great time. There is lots of history to be discovered. Don’t be fooled by the coins and paper money in the gift stores. They’re not the real thing. LOL Enjoy yourself! :)

Here’s a few samples of my Civil War money. All of the Confederate Notes are genuine. A $5.00 Confederate Note from 1862.

A $50.00 Confederate Note from 1861. Note the serial number is a straight ladder note, 12345, hand written. On the reverse is A.R.30. This is the Arkansas 30th, which I believe fought at Gettysburg in 1863.

Today we went to the Gettysburg Civil War Museum. They had these in the display. Seems the procedes from the half went to the 1938 Gettysburg celebration, if I remember correctly. They also had replicas of Confederate paper money which was quite interesting. Wife was nice enough to agree to visit the local coin shop when they open Wednesday, so I'll keep you folks updated.
