Yep! L---O---N---G history, gotta get yourself a copy of The Story of the American Banknote Company, by William Griffiths (1959) It's extraordinary and chocked full of actual engraved vignettes printed from the original plates!

    Don't forget the Russians :)

The American Banknote Company also printed some awesome notes for the Provisional Government of Russia, I gotta represent and throw a few pics on here :D

They also printed other denominations, but the Soviets took over before they were able to introduce them into circulation. ABNCo notes are the best. :hammer:

The Un-issued Russian ones that I mentioned earlier are even more beautiful... Here are the pictures of the unissued specimens that ABNCo printed:

 Only in the most remote way perhaps... if dragons are mythical creatures based on reptiles and reptiles and birds are considered evolutionary descendants... but that coat of arms has no scales-- only feathers, talons and beaks. Maybe the currency of Middle-earth has renderings of Smaug and popular fiction has clouded your interpretation of the Russian Coat of Arms.:D

Notes of this quality are some of the reasons I prefer paper money. The vignettes are wonderful. I lean towards Fractionals becuse of the vignettes and there never seemed to be many around in this condition. These are gorgeous notes. Very nice!

That's a great price. I got mine for $85 inc. s/h. I'm sure someone was sad to part with that copy but another will be blown away to be the new owner!
