ANACS is stuck on ASEs

My go to graders for me is ANACS. However, I like to at least get a deal every now and then and ANACS used to offer specials every month. I noticed in the last four months that every month they only have specials on ASEs coins and I see by my e-mail replies that this is going to change any time soon. I have to guess that either ANACS is very busy and this is the only specials that they can offer. Or, they are getting complacent with an easy coin to grade for a cheap, easy way to make a profit. I don't mean disrespect but wonder what's going on.

It's possible that they are very busy. I, too, was watching for a monthly special and noticed that they didn't change ( or renew) the ASE specials at the first of the month, but renewed the "monthly special" several days late in the new month. I finally sent a few coins in at the Economy rate, which supposedly has a six week turnaround, but my shipment is showing an estimated eight week wait. As of today, theyve had my coins for five weeks but none have been graded yet.

AND a new month, and the ANACS special is ASEs again.
And none of the nine coins a sent in seven weeks ago have been graded yet.
Something is going on over there.

Before the ASE kick it was a nickel kick. Realistically they've only had like 2-3 specials in the last year and a half at least as they just keep repeating the same coin types. 12 ASE for 96 is basically a bulk rate that seems like they're begging for business. Dont get me wrong there's a place for them on lower valued coins and really like that option for cheaper stuff, but if they really wanted more business switching it up or doing multiple at the same time would almost certainly attract more than running the same coin types every month

ASE's are easy, they all are either MS69 or MS70, and occasionally a lower one, it doesn't really require much work so I get them wanting to "McDonalds" them and discount in order to grade them and turn them over for the fees faster.

    Personally I wouldn't bother with grading SAE's. 12 for $96 ($8 each) ain't a bad deal though.

the offer expires May 31st. maybe something different after that.

IMHO I think that the only ASEs worth getting slabbed are the last and first editions or the privy marked 75th anniversary, maybe even a reverse proof. This special gives no average collector a deal. My guess is there aren't many average collectors out there that need 12 ASEs graded right now. They have had this special now for at least 4 months now and looks like it will be the norm for a while; I hope not. It' a good deal but how about mixing it up every once or twice a year. Yes, I get it, some people have quantities of ASEs to grade but come on, four or five straight month? Regards.

I just took up the offer for the special on ASE's, hard to pass up grading at $8.00 per coin. Also sent in 4 of their coins that had a Serial Number that could not be found, I called and they advised me that the coins in question had serial numbers from a batch that had been "lost" when they switched to a new system. Advised me to resubmit and they would beholder and place in a slab with a current serial number at no charge.

They reholdered one AGE and one ASE for the same reason. They were courteous and prompt.

And they're bulk submitting them to PCGS and NGC, the special wouldnt serve any purpose for them.

UPDATE: My coins submitted at the economy rate (est. six week turnaround) were sent back after 7 weeks, 2 days. So things may be a BIT slow over there. But I had a variety to grade, and that adds a few days to the grading process.

I dropped some off at a show the first week in May and got them back today. That was really fast for economy. I’ve found them to have good service.

New month and it looks like ANACS is still stuck on ASE's. I've got several coins, I've been saving and waiting on a special to send in for grading. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

Lots of MS70 bullion out there.

and the numbers grow by the day... I still think that graded bullion is a fool's errand when 80%+ of it grades at MS 69 or better.

Did they forget to pay their internet bill to be able to update their specials? Its been running forever and the one before ran forever as well. I get its an easy one for them and maybe it being very successful for them which I wouldnt guess, but come on ANACS mix it up one time. Even just bring back the old dollar and cents special that was very popular and pretty easy for them to do

Well it looks like ANACS finally decided to change it up. The new special for July is 12 Buff's for $96. I'm glad they finally got off ASE's, but unfortunately I don't have 12 Buffalo Nickels worth grading.
