I AM FURIOUS FOR THE MONEY I PAID FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Okay....deep breath....Im over it, I'll tell you what never again a PCI coin, I lost money bigtime!Im upset,Im goin to bed Sorry to you people for venting,Ill be happier next time,Goodnight!
Happens to the best of us. Next time do more researching on your coin, such as how it grades, heritage can give you great photos. Also consider this if you were trying to purchase the coin for your collection,l you didnt really lose money, you just spent a little too much Have a great night.
Just wondering since i'm kinda new, how does something like this happen? Do you buy a slabbed coin with it stating MS67 and after you receive it the label states MS61? Isn't that technically illegal? Sorry for hacking but I figured this would be an appropriate time to ask as I hope this doesn't happen to me.
His coin was graded by PCI and he broke it out and sent it in to PCGS or NGC I'm guessing. They only graded it 62. That's why we like to say not to buy coins from the other grading companys until you know what your doing.
Well thats completely understandable and I'll definitely be more cautious when buying slabbed coins, sorry for your lose
Sorry to hear that happened to you. Consider it a lessen learned...stick with PCGS or NGC in the future. At least you still have GENUINE (and cool) error coin. TC
Well, I can tell you that a true MS67 Adams Smooth edge dollar would be WAY up there in price. I mean WAY! None of the ones that I had went higher than NGC MS66 and I have seen over half of the smooth edge dollars that were found. PCI used to have a good name in the industry, they started meddling in things they didnt understand and soon found themselves out of the market and being purchased by DGS.
The problem is that nobody in their right mind would pay NGC or PCGS prices for a PCI graded coin which is why I asked the OP what he paid for the coin. BTW, DGS did not buy PCI, they only bought the remaining supply stock after PCI went out of business.
Wow, that stinks. I hate that happened to you. Every day I am learning new things on here. I hate to learn at someone elses misfortune though. If you bought it for your collection just think about paying a little over retail for a car.
Wow! Thanks everyone, and Im sorry to hear that yours came back a fake, lets just say I paid more than I should have.Oh, Im sure you all know, but god,...I cant get over how beautiful the 1999 W $5 gold george washington commemorative is!!!!!Man, if you could get one in any grade that would be pretty SWEET,those are boomin pretty good!I'd rather have that then the 97' Jackie robinson commem!!Yeah, I usually never deal with PCI, but I had to find out for myself and I found out the hard way so its the past, lesson learned!Oh therewas a pan pac 1915 s gold comm. for sale it was ms63,but very beautiful I think it was 7or 800 ngc, but its offer ready at herritage! Check it out! Sorry Im bouncin back n forth! lol
um.....so WHO did you send it to after you cracked it out of the PCI slab? Why did you send it in to another grading company? Did you disagree with the grade? Do you know how to grade? Why did you buy the coin in the first place? To tell you the truth - if you KNOW how to grade, and you research what you are buying, you should be safe. I have bought several coins in PCI slabs and have always gotten a good deal. One coin I got in a PCI slab was graded F, and when I sent it to NGC it came back VF, and worth quite a bit more. Now I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like you thought you could beat the market, and buy a PCI coin, send it to NGC or PCGS and get it graded the SAME thing and then flip it quick for more money. I would suggest that you start by learning how to grade, and then learning more on how the market works. After that, make sure you research the coins you are buying, and what the market is on those coins at that time. Speedy
Interesting! I'm no expert but there is a HUGE, visible difference between an MS62 and an MS67 on these Presidential Dollars regardless of who graded the coin. MS62 would have noticeable hits and dings in the focal areas whereas an MS67 would not. Hopefully this tuition payment didn't break the bank.
This would NEVER happen to someone with experience in the series. A point, maybe 2 but never an MS67 to an MS62. As advised, if you are new or inexperienced, NEVER EVER EVER pay out BIG money for a coin that is not graded by either PCGS or NGC. EVER.
