So I was able to stop by my favorite coin shop today and found these beauty’s. He had purchased a very large seated collection from an estate. The half has the look I love. The 40 O half dime is super hard to find and the 49 O dime is lower mintage. Best part was the 76 and 77 CC dimes that I pulled out of the cull bin for $6 each. These two were $6 each. How could I say no?

I wish my coin shop sold things like that for $6 :)

The one that got away was a 1838 small stars dime for $75. Oh well

That 1840-O half dime is beautiful! Color me jealous!

Thank you! I consider you an expert in the seated coinage.
That little bugger was hard to take a pic of. The one thing that did stick in my mind was the comments on coin talk of the 1840 O half dime.

Expert? Nah, I just study Seated coinage a lot… and its varieties. I don’t even own an UNC Seated coin! Need to change that! But I’ve been focusing a bit more on early coinage (Draped Bust, etc) lately. Dangerous move as a college freshman on a budget…

Cool coins with a very old, unmessed with look. Wish I had a coin shop nearby.

That 40-o is a real winner. Tough underrated date and wonderful surfaces. I’d call it vf 35. With the typical early New Orleans strike issues. Nice lot. The 60-s half another underrated date with good surface
