The Van Buren Unc got above 4223 so I guess it's not the new "key" (final adjustments could knock it down a few, though). There's just one (1) more week to get Proof sales over the 7454 mark. 140 in one week?? ...might not happen at these prices (we'll see).

you still have two more weeks and a half. not one week. also anna harrison unc. will not be the lowest. the lowest will be battled between julie and letitia tyler. and or sarah polk. and many more to come. the trend is way down for this series. some dealers were selling last four current spouse gold below mint offer prices.

 

I agree. We have yet to see the keys to this series. If the price of gold stays where it is, next year we could see all time record lows in this series.

 

Thanks Elaine...some weeks back, the Mint said the Van Burens were going off sale on Nov 25th (Mar 5th for the Anna Harrisons).

The Mint site now says they're staying on sale until Dec 3rd...the same day the Margaret Taylors go on sale. Now I wonder when the Anna Harrisons will go off sale.

I already doubled up on the Letitia Tylers in expectation they will go low (the Julia Tylers seem to be more popular). I'm betting on a late summer swoon in gold prices...based on a probable interest rate hike immediately after the election. I plan to do my catch-up gold buying then...assuming things work in my favor.

 

Joe...as you know, I've been following FS eBay auctions lately. It seems like the high prices may be forcing some folks to choose between collecting the Uncs or Proofs and to sell off their discards.

I just bought a PCGS MS70 Jefferson Liberty for $608...with all the packaging included. I had another bid on a NGC PR70 Jefferson Liberty (my top bid = $608) and the coin sold for $618...just one more person bid.

 

elaine, where can I get the 2009 spouse coins less than mint prices??? Somewhere besides eBay?? Not looking for certified coins, just the coins in the original boxes as they came from the Mint.

Probably not buying at these gold prices anyways, will wait for a big drop. Hopefully I don't have to wait forever though

 

A while back, I posted a link to an article that talked about Chinese fake FS coins coming into the country. They look really good!!

It wouldn't take much for someone to buy a coin from the mint, send the coin in for grading, replace it with a fake, and resell it on eBay or elsewhere...with the original packaging and certificate of authenticity.

Personally, if I don't buy my FS coins directly from the Mint, I need them in PCGS or NGC slabs with verifiable serial numbers. Even that might not be safe enough these days!

 

try ampex and golden eagle coins. they should have some first spouse below mint prices. and with box and c.o.a.
