Hello, I finally garnered the courage to attack the bulk of my Father's collection. It is seriously out of hand. I do not think I will be able to effectively inventory this lot. There are about 6-7 grocery sacks all weighing about 40 lbs. I looked in the first sack and started writing. After a few hours it became apparent that this is almost insurmountable for a newbie with a Red Book. Here's a partial list of the Silver pieces. Apart from another bunch of WL's and Franklins' (that I found in a different bag) which are not listed yet. Add to that, there are a whole lot of 'blue books' for the sets. Some are filled, half filled and almost empty. (those coins are not recorded below either) SILVER PIECES DOLLARS MORGANS 1880 O 1902 O 1879 S 3rd rev? Any of these dates jump out at you experts? Thank you all for your consideration.
Both these guys posted what I was going to mention. The 1892-S Barber half in only G condition is worth a couple hundred or there abouts. If the S on that 1917 half is on the obverse under "In God We Trust", it's worth considerably more. The rest are relatively common in worn condition. The 1949 Franklin halves may be worth a bit more depending on condition.
Well, I'm going to admit it. It would take me hours to locate the 1892S and the 1917S coins from those rolls again. It is truly a disaster. Next time I have a 'go round' with them, I'll make a note and look for those dates. My next task is to photograph the cents that have been brought to my attention. At least I can put my hands on them, they are in folders. Thanks, Rosethe
