Hi, I was helping a friend out and on 2 occasions, purchased some coins from her after her husband past away. Here are a couple of pics, and am l curious about the value of them? Mostly interested in selling them at some time as a lot. The ones with the cert or numbered papers, are the only ones I have showing whatever authenticity they have. All are in the cases when I got them. Apparently he bought from magazines advertising Treasury sales
Not much. The modern commemorative dollars generally trade near melt, and the colorized ("gold enhanced") ones may go under that (since they're no longer pure coin silver). All the gold-colored stuff is almost certainly plated dreck; some of it may be silver, but I wouldn't bet on it. Edit: the "slabbed" "gold" says as much on the label -- "Material: Cu (copper) layered in 24k gold". The "Symbols of Freedom" "coins": same deal. $79.95 if bought individually, but save over 75% by agreeing to let them send you more dreck in the future! Resale value: whatever an ounce of copper will get you, currently well into double-digit... cents.
That really doesn't mean anything They look like items non coin collectors purchase thinking they would have a future premium. Unfortunately no. IMHO
TRY to recover what you spent with re-sale. Any "layered" coin/token is pretty much trinkets and that's all they'll be. Might sell at a flea mkt.
