common human greed is at play here the more suckers they can reel in the more money they will make and toned coins seems to be a hot item

They can't see past the color. If its color it must be "precious" compared to "white", people can't fake color!! Flap, flap. flap...the sound of money from someone who knows so little to someone who thinks they know so much. If they knew so much , they would fake color the coin in a burlap bag fabric , that brings even more flapping.

There are a few sellers on ebay now who are doing their versions of "Artistic Toning"... they often seem to be more honest in their profiles than in their listings about the Art Toning.
It's just too easy to imagine being a person who's just learning about coins and has $10 or $20 to spend on some cool coin and maybe even get a deal...$20 completely wasted... these sellers are making a ton of sales, having to eat one or two returns here and there means nothing.

What sucks though is this is full-on preying on the uninformed and the sellers know it. It's always buyers beware, but...I have little patience for this kind of subtle trickery which also sends a middle finger to the coin communities. It's the same type of nonsense with the infomercials on coins and other things on shopping channels that for decades have been fully designed to deceive the uninformed.

Here is another seller who is doing something similar and also fails to mention that it's actually "Art Toning" in their listings https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=beachegrl1

I did enjoy this kind-of honest description of this ruined Morgan from the seller I originally posted lol!!! ...I guess he kept ALL his coins together in one large damp bag :sour:

1922 PEACE DOLLAR ( TONED) & AU CONDITION COIN CAME FROM A OLD DAMP BANK BAG
