I know it's Friday but I missed my Throwback Thursday thread yesterday.. Due to an unexpected Fire Department inspection that took a few hours. We passed but it wiped me out! Today I have a Double Struck both struck Off Center known as a Saddle Strike. I showed this slab from my collection on CoinTalk back in March 2015.. Enjoy! Looks like Mickey Mouse
Nice. Hope the fire department was kind, but strict with the building. We need them to keep you safe.
2 violations. 1 was an easy fix so he gave me a chance to get it done. The only violation that was left was a button on the fire control panel that is not functioning at all. So we have to get in contact with our fire panel provider so they can fix it.
I believe your coin is a double struck coin as it is listed on the slab, but that does not make it a Saddle Strike error coin. A Saddle Struck coin or Tandem Strike is only struck once but with two dies (hence tandem). This usually makes the coin/ planchet buckle between the two dies and it come out looking like a Saddle. https://www.error-ref.com/inverted-hump/
That is inconsequential and not proof of anything really. First off the two strikes on the coin you posted look to be to close together to be a saddle strike. I'm quite sure that the dies on double and quad presses are far enough apart that saddle strikes are hit at approximately 180° opposite each other. This distance allows for the feeder fingers to have room. And the bottom line is that it can not be both types of errors as Saddle Strikes are not Double Struck. I don't understand why you would say that the coin you posted is something totally different that what is written on the slab.
Because when I acquired it back in 2015 the seller stated that it was a Saddle Struck Cent. A reputable seller. Sometimes there is more information about what's going on than what is written on it.. Anyways.. Off to bed now.. I'm heading out to do some metal detecting very early.. Want to be at the park when they open at 6am.
Well that makes a very good point. People should do the research themselves and don't rely on what someone else says just because they think that someone has a reputable knowledge of a certain subject. I hope that people do not take my words as fact until they have done the proper research to find what is the truth. I know that some will and some will not.
I just got back from detecting. 3 silver coins and a bunch of Indian Head Cents! But thanks for your comments and opinions!
Shame on you @paddyman98 you remind others to do their own thread, practice what you preach. Just kidding, got ya! PO, nice coin thanks for sharing.
