I though it was lost but it turned up in some old boxes packed away. My concerns are not just monetary but perseverance of the coin as well. Is it too damaged along with value and the costs to preserve and protecting it in the future. In any venture one undertakes knowing all the angles and what they can or will be faced with is important. Please don’t judge me by stating “you”. You’re replying would be a lot more accurate by stating “they” and not singling me out. You, sir have no idea and haven’t a clue past your nose to say what my concerns are or why. I guess I should have said "they". You seem awfully defensive. I didn't mean to single you out and was only responding to your first post. Fwiw, I like NGC's white holders and they seem to have for faster turnaround time. For YOU (And anyone else in your situation) I would recommend sending through a dealer since they know what they're doing and you do not.
One thing I have learned that everyone has their opinions. Some may agree but then some will say no, yes, no maybe so. Sounds silly, but I just go with my gut and take advice on my post but whether it’s a Lincoln Cent or a Morgan, all mean something to us if we all post it. Welcome. Adam meant no harm. I understand you wanting to clarify. What I said in general about grading is my advice to anyone new. Keep posting coins you're curious about and the folks around here are unlikely to ever steer your wrong. With good quality photographs, preferably. I had no problem with your question. Since I mentioned a submitting through a dealer earlier, I wanted to clarify that too. A TRUSTED dealer can be a very valuable asset to a new numismatist. But with high quality photos, these forums can probably advise you just as well.
