Please post images of your Henning counterfeits and let's find out if you bought a counterfeit of a counterfeit! After a number of images are posted, we'll discuss the images.
Here's mine, some said it was just damage but I believe its one,the weight is correct.Very strange coin similar anomalies are also around the whole edge.
I have a question. Are these worth more or less than a "Normal" Nickel comparably?? I just heard about this... Well not too long ago and now wonder about all the Nickels I may have given away over the years. Thanks for reading!!
Henning nickels have increased significantly in value over the years as contemporary U.S. counterfeits have become popular to many collectors. From junk boxes to $100 plus. That's why they are now subject to counterfeiting, probably by the Chinese.
So you want Folks to post their coins so it can be pointed out that they possibly got taken by a counterfeit. And then a blatantly raciest comment is made about the possible makers of such coins.
The Chinese are pretty well known for counterfeiting coins. Not racist, it’s a fact. sort of like saying how the Germans are pretty well known for making sausages.

I want members to post their Henning nickels so we can authenticate them and alert all of you to a "new" Chinese counterfeit I saw this week. No I've learned that folks who see race in everything are letting us all know what is actually in their hearts. That post has earned you a special place with several others ** of your ilk who I no longer wish to deal with! This EDUCATED member understood simple English: hotwheelsearl, posted: "The Chinese are pretty well known for counterfeiting coins. Not racist, it’s a fact. I am educated enough to know the difference between the words possibly the Chinese and probably the Chinese. It only takes one word to show what is truly in the hearts of some.
You're looking for something that isn't there. @Insider merely stated what's common knowledge in our hobby. The Chinese counterfeits are more than abundant. They are so widespread throughout all US coins they've made collecting unslabbed key or semi key coins virtually impossible for the average collector. There was nothing racist about his post or that specific comment whatsoever.
Here's mine. (These are photos taken through a Lighthouse slab though.) I'm nowhere near my coins. So regrettably, I can't zoom in like pottydollar did with his. If you can work with these, that'll be great! Thanks!
By the way, does anyone know of another example where a KNOWN counterfeit coin (the Henning Nickel, in this case) is worth so much more than the original? I find that fact to be so interesting.
You finally found one!!! Congrats! Sorry - I haven't logged in regularly. Except for weekends or holidays.
The poster did not make mention of which country he thought the counterfeit coins came from, he only expressed which race of people he thinks made them. There is a difference.
WOW; the Chinese counterfeits (documented) originated in China, the Russian ones in Russia and the US ones in the US... I own several Henning nickles, all "genuine" US counterfeits! 2 of mine:
Something must be in the air. This is the SECOND TIME this week when a member responded to me with a reply that embarrassed him enough that he deleted it. Self-moderation is a good thing but he is still to me. So far, this is the genuine Henning nickel die pair used to make fake I've seen.
I don't know much about the Henning counterfeits so I have a question. Did he purposely leave off the oversize mm's on his pieces ? Like an inside joke or some thing ? Oh wait. Are they supposed to be 'error' coins or varieties because they don't have mm's ?
I'm trying to keep up, but it's very difficult. When did "Chinese" stop being a term for a nationality, and become strictly a term for a "race"?
