I have had a regular submission of US coins at PCGS now for 3 months, what is everyone else seeing at submission times? I'm thinking my coins have to be getting close.
Long....I just got my 1/18/22 regular (which is usually quicker than economy) order back today (grades posted two days ago)....over 50 business days by regular count but only 50 by PCGS count since they subtract out days they are at shows from the count.
Unpaid Advertisement: Must be great to have such a good product and be so very popular that your service suffers. Less popular services with a much, much, much lower volume are shipping economy tier five to seven days before the due date. Anyone know the ANACS turnaround times?
Very slow to the point I’d suspect there’s a supply issue with either the slabs or gaskets. They aren’t taking weeks to enter stuff like NGC and at least they don’t charge you till it ships. There’s certainly an increase in volume that’s happened too. Even CAC had to slow everything down though their post office is apparently throwing a temper tantrum. Hopefully it’ll start to get faster but I don’t have high hopes at the moment
well. have an NGC submission in now.. they recieved the package on a friday, had its arrival confirmed monday and entered into the system/opened the package (they had to open it to get the form numbers ) awaiting "scheduleing" now... I can't call that slow not really... but then my coins ain't graded yet either lol (hurry up!!!)
I submitted a Specialty Gold lot to NGC 4/01, and it was entered 4/07. I figure I should have grades by 4/26.
I certainly wish a new grading service would come forward! With established, professional names already behind it.
If it's been over whatever time they say, I think 60 days on economy, message them. They'll find it and get it moving. But yes, my last one was supposed to take 45. It was day 52. I messaged them and had it in a week. And took almost another month for the truview to become available.
That's the only way it'd have a chance, but even so it'd be hard to compete with the 3.5 big players who have tremendous market inertia and infrastructure on their side. That said, I agree it'd be nice to see, particularly if they could be a bit more no-nonsense than the top two now are.
Good points. AFAIK their parts come from China! That is a popular wish but a totally bad idea. You have absolutely no clue about the cost of starting a TPGS. And the expense of running it.
EXTREMELY slow. I've had an order in that was logged 12/29/2021 and was supposed to be 30 business day turn around... I am now at 75 business days and it's still in encapsulation. I've called about 4 or 5 times throughout the course of this order to check on it and allegedly they expedited the order after business day 35 (my first call). Well apparently "expediting" the order means nothing because it's now been an additional 40 business days since it was "expedited" and nothing has happened. This has been enough for me to send my world coins to NGC only from now on.
It's because gold is volatile. In the right conditions, a submitter can stand to lose $ if the coins are tied up for too long. They can also make $ if they are unable to sell coins out of their control.
Granted Gold is more common but you can make that argument for any of the more expensive metals like Platinum, Palladium, Rhodium and they dont have special tiers. Theres been a couple times if you had a Rhodium coin sit for a while youd have watched it gain and then lose 10k in value while waiting. Would be nice to see those special gold tiers include basically all of the more expensive metals like that. Would also be nice to see them blow through some of the modern submissions in general which take very little time and are super easy
I submitted a bunch of SLQs, Capped Bust halves, early copper and a few others to ICG on the CoinTalk special. They emailed acknowledgement of my Order and entry into their system on Wednesday, in the past it's been 3 weeks turnaround, it will be interesting to see if that is still true. I'm looking forward to a nice package around mid-May I hope.
Sounds fishy. I should think gold makes up over 80% of submissions for gold and the more expensive metals you mentioned.
I sent in a NGC submission a week after this PCGS submission and I already have the NGC slabs back in hand and am considering sending them to CAC but hold off in hopes of the PCGS coins showing up. I think I'll consider ANACS or ICG next time in place of PCGS. If I could be king for a day I think it would be good for collectors to have CAC receive ANACS and ICG coins but they I doubt they ever will.
It coud happen, excep the evaluation you are getting has to go thru J Albanese. Serious question who out there has made a name for themselves that can carry the business on? I would hope that one day there could be an even playing field.
Their wait time is absolutely excruciating for QA and the anticipation is killing me. I thought after it hit QA it would be shipped within a couple of days... nope. Been in QA for about a week. I wish they would just box them up and ship them out already.
