First I never got my trophy. Second, ya you’re right, his is better than any that I have. I just made up that it’s my series, that I’ve submitted 100’s of this exact year. Truth is I have nothing to add except a question since I know nothing about 50’s proof coinage. The attached image is of the reverse of the OP’s coin. Focus on the cropped wing area on the reverse. See anything? Edit: Adding another image. Are those raised lines? What could it be? I’m also puzzled by another area of interest, again, reverse of the OP’s coin. Is this perhaps the discovery of a yet unknown type B? 71B6BB69-8060-4F38-8E98-E7D7F66CC4CC.jpeg I’ll reserve further comment until you guys try to determine if it’s a business strike or a proof.

I was trying to be supportive for the OP. I believe all you said. I just dislike when someone gets a beating. Op didn’t grade the coin. It says 69. Even if the grade is wrong. Op was showing his coin. Good luck with your series.

I noticed that about you, @Cheech9712. BTW, I been meaning to ask, how have I been doing, better? No, not so hot? For a horse, I mean. How many horses do you know as charming as me anyway?

The type B reverse was used on proofs from 1937 to 1964.
When the Proof die was re detailed it showed seperation between the E/S among other details. One other was a re touching or engraving of the feathers on the eagle.
So, to answer your question this is a proof quarter. @Casman Type B reverses weren't used on business strikes until 1956. Some say 1957 because the 56' type B is the hardest to locate.

If you have any other research or a coin to post please do, it would be helpful to all of us.
    Hope thats OK @Hommer

That is perfectly fine and more than welcome. I have a couple of re-engraved tail feathers in my collection but don't have photos at the moment. I believe that I have posted photos on here but can't remember where.

If I could stay awake I’d post more. I’ve been on holiday since 2015. Here’s a few quick iPhone pics of some of my proof sets with examples of the 1953 Reengraved Tailfeathers. 3B7534E7-2B30-4E67-96FD-51E0ED123FA3.jpeg DFFD2C6C-3AF7-4B14-949C-2FE1A976D1CC.jpeg ECE699C5-D6C7-45E1-BFA4-AA150F5D4E0F.jpeg F57F619D-E79B-4EEE-870C-A37C6CC5162A.jpeg

All of the 53 RTF’s exhibit a large arcing die crack along the viewers right side, Eagles left wing from near the top down and eventually crossing through the outer wing feather. I’ve had at one time 40 or so examples but I have stuff just piled all over the place. I’m very disorganized and forgetful.

Just to confirm an earlier post (reading for the first time), GreatCollections does not auction ACG slabs. Only PCGS, NGC, ANACS and ICG.
