In the coin jar, left over from Dad's stuff. Looks like maybe FS-01-19530-501 (021.73), CONECA: RPM-001? See attached pics.

All I know is the D is really close to that date and it is most likely what you say. That's my birth year so no matter what, that is one cool cent!! :D

This is considered a displaced mm, A displaced mm is when the mm is touching another element of the coin, the D is touching the 9.

This is an error, since know other element should touch another element on the coins design, especially the mint mark.

Your all wrong - it's not RPM-1, far from it.
The "D" is not touching the date at all and if is was it is well within normal mint tolerence.
It certainly could not be considered a displaced mint-mark in any sence.
Come on guys this one is not that hard.

It looks a lot like this one. Maybe a closer look and a larger pic. of the MM of the OP's will help.

:loud: The definition for a displace mm is on coneca glossary of definitions . I do agree with you as far as the tolarance level, but this is over that ,if you want to be technical.and it's an error indeed.:desk:

:secret:I have a question, how would you like if your nose was touching your ear, would, you consider that an error is it over the tolarance level? :goofer: All in fun

    Thanks JIM

It is not. The verticle bar of the "D" in the OP coins does not continue as straight and seperate (same width up and down) as RPM-1 - this is not RPM#1.

There's a big difference, first of all the coin you posted is a diffferent variety RPM then the OP's. The coin you posted the D is in the tolarance level .

There's a significant difference between the two specimens. The oop's is a displaced mm touching the 5. Yours is not ,even close to that area of the date

    Thanks JIM

Well since he posted a better pic the coin is not a displaced mm, that just proves you have to take better shots when you post on the forum not tiny little pics.

    Thanks JIM

Again you are wrong because it's not touching anything - there is a space between the "5" and "D" and in terms of die variety markers it's big enough to drive a truck through.
Please tell us what you are thinking or are we looking at the same coin?
I'm looking at a photo of a worn out 1953-D Lincoln Cent with a possible RPM, again not RPM#1, with the top portion of the mint-mark close to but not touching any portion of the coins date????

Hey, hey now. It's not worn out, it's still worth a penny.

Now that clarfies everything since the pic is larger. First not a displaced MM,second it's a different variety then the ops you posted Rockdude.
    Thanks JIM

Yes ,since the Op made a larger pic you are right it's not touching any element, I apologize. We need larger pic's when determinimng things like that, since they are very technical, areas of this field.

Just to make clear the Ops coin is not the same variety that Rockdude said it is,without due respect, just wanted to make that clear for the other members .

    Thank you JIM

Thanks for the larger picture, I'm still going to question it untill I see a larger picture of the MM. I have no idea what errman is talking about. Different variety of what?

    Thanks JIM
