There it is... overstrike that took place outside of the Mint with the undertype being presumably a genuine IHC.

I guessed double strike - close, but not quite!

Actually, overstrike and double strike are good answers based on the micrograph of the shield in the OP. In both cases, the second strike would flatten out the original image. Technically, this coin does not fulfil the normal, strict definition of overstrike. However, Daniel Carr did use an already struck (coin) Indian head cent as a planchet to strike with his fanciful die.

Woo hoo, the first 1910 Indian Cent discovered . . . I know I can't afford it, so I won't ask. Besides, it's against the rules.

I'd miss you :bigtears: so would you please, please redeem yourself and explain to all of us why this token can never be considered a counterfeit. :D

"YOU ARE IGNORING CONTENT BY THIS MEMBER."

I see nothing after my post and no indication of who

or what :)yack::yawn:) this message applies to.

Never mind, really nothing missed. :D:p

Since TOKEN was not an option, it could only be counterfeit.

I thought this was an indian cent, you could've mentioned that it was token from the beginning. If you did I would've chose(Overstruck or Doublestruck rather than counterfeit 100%)as since these are privately minted mistakes like this for example are more common.

There is nothing counterfeit with the above Indian. And it really doesn't make anyone look cool to say so. These are Fantasy coins.
The above coin is overstruck on an IHC, the date is fictional, and does not pose a threat to the hobby.
Maybe to the fool that doesn't do his homework and sends it in for authentication, to this day I haven't even seen a Carr sold without the flip and identification. The money is in the combo.

What it is WAS NOT the subject of the teaser. The doubling effect was. As long as you understand that the coin is a fantasy token and the the correct poll answer (until you see the entire coin) based on the image in the OP was either overstruck or double struck.

The fact that it is a token does not change the poll question.

Remember this authentication fact: TODAY, it is only in extremely rare cases that a coin can be authenticated by a small area of its surface. That was not true decades ago when the presence of one single microscopic characteristic anywhere on a coin's surface would verify it was a fake.

You are correct(The fact that it is a token does not change the poll question.)but as I stated above if you mentioned the coin was a token I would've chose overstruck or doublestruck.Personally for me and some others that fact would change our opinions from the very beginning

The poll was anonymous. No one I know cares what any member posted. No one is graded. The only important things are to be able to YELL :rage: at me for something; have fun; or disagree so we possibly learn something.

PS A recent poll of members agreed that I :grumpy::troll: don't need to play fair :jawdrop:o_O and can try to lead folks to an incorrect :vomit: answer. :p

It's Brain Teaser Thursday! The :troll: in me wants to announce this and then NOT POST A TEASER :p:D today. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

The :angelic: will make me post one anyway. ;)

Skip, you make it really hard for folks to know what in the hell you are saying and what others said. You have skills beyond most on this site but you make it tough for most to see that and learn from it. Ignore me, please.

instead of ya'll teaching and explaining so that others may gain the knowledge ya'll act and sound like you have nothing better to do than to put people down that is what makes so many of us so discouraged to come on to these pages and try to gain some knowledge into something that we like just as much as you all do. No one was born with this kind of knowledge it was acquired by asking and learning all at the same time. But you all make it so DAMN HARD TO ASK QUESTIONS 'CAUSE AS SOON AS ONE DOES BY ALL MEANS YA'LL ATTACK LIKE SOME VICIOUS K-9! Ya'll should be called the BULLIES of NUSMATICS !!

And that was your first post?
I would encourage you to find other threads that don't involve @Insider we razz and make inside statements that many newcomers don't understand.
Insider will teach you as he has been in this business since the beginning, but you will need to read some of the history.

    Welcome to the forum,
Kick back and do some more reading.

@sigrid Welcome to CT. I get frustrated myself at some posts, but, we can learn some good stuff and ignore things that we don't care for. I collected for nearly 70 years before I came on here. I found that I am still learning.
    Also from South Texas.

Ya'll made #5 on the :stinkyfeet::troll: :clown: list and it only took one post.:dead:

    :( Nope.

This is not rocket science. I posted an image showing doubling and gave Ya'll
some options what it could be. The correct answerS (there were two) BASED ON WHAT I SHOWED were double struck or doubled die. If someone wants
to :bigtears: whine :bigtears: that it could have been a counterfeit, that's OK
BUT even a counterfeit can be double struck and many are overstrikes!

Nevertheless, any of Ya'll who don't understand this post need to collect something like Barbie dolls! Additionally, I'd like to see a link to one of my posts where I jumped on and put down a member who asked me a direct question. Usually I ask them a question so they can get the answer for themselves.

PS CT is not a popularity contest. I post for
my enjoyment here. Hopefully, some of you get something out of too.
