" IN COD WE TRUST" The engraving was done by, Craig A. Campbell, who also sculpted Nina Otero-Warren’s quarter, to be released later this year. Campbell started by sculpting an initial model out of clay and plaster, then used digital software to polish the final design. I got one last Friday from a convenience store, that and a '74 Kennedy half in change from the same transaction, made my day.
The gas station had a new roll I bought $5 from her this morning. Hopefully one of those is in better shape than this one. These are a pain to light and photo.
None from me. Designed by the Royal Canadian Mint? Maybe that’s why these quarters actually look decent. I didn’t know that tidbit, but I certainly like it.
I don't collect coins like this so don't know much about them. Are they hard to find? I got three Ps fresh from a mint roll in my grocery store change the other day. If anyone needs them, let me know.
I don't want to get into another multi-year project in quarters. The Maya Angelou's quarter is very nice and I have gotten about 7 or 8 of them. I don't put them in a 2x2. I put each one of them in the manilla coin envelop instead and pencil in the Year, Mint, and the type of coin. I do wish they would put Dr. Sally Ride on the larger 5" silver coin, because I collect anything to do with airplanes, space, and pilots. Thanks for sharing your info.
"Angelou’s coin was designed by Emily Damstra, an artist and illustrator who has designed more than 40 coins and medals for the U.S. Mint—including the quarter for Anna May Wong—and the Royal Canadian Mint." You misread it - Damstra designed coins for both the US and RCM, not that the RCM designed this coin. I got three of them in change a few weeks ago from a fresh roll the cashier just cracked, but I'll probably spend them.
It's not that they are necessarily hard to find. I am sure if you were a roll hunter you could find more than plenty. I like putting away the ones that are unc, and in gem or better condition when I get them in my change. Since 2020, it's been difficult to get them in quantity. Usually when they are first released I will get $10 or more dollars worth. Tuskagee Airmen I found 3 And Washington crossing the Delaware I found about $2 dollars worth in unc condition.
I am so glad that I don't OCD on them it would drive me nuts. My only collecting interest with coins is gem/unc and variety or error.
