considering sending in my columbian half and isabella quarter to have done like this... Whatcha think about the idea???
True true.. I was thinking about that as well, but I still kinda like the idea of the set in a single slab
I dont really like them. I know there's some things that it makes a lot of sense, but they're a pain to store and if you decided to sell you have to sell both etc.
It depends on you personally I wouldn't have a perfect place to put it!!!you think thats big?check out the ngc mega holder for the war nickel series.
Old Idea but it is great someone finally did it! Wonder what the TPGS's will come up with next? A three coin set for P -D - S Texas 50c? Wait for it if this goes over well.
of course all kinds of multi-holders have been around for years. However, as I posted, they are a very, very, old idea (Pre-1986). The novelty of this set for me is the combination of a themed group of Commemorative coins (all it needs now is a Pan-Pac postage stamp.) Apparently, PCGS thinks this idea was also novel enough TO PRODUCE A SAMPLE for us to see.
Please show me a PCGS holder with a Commemorative Set as I'm a shut-in and have not seen one ever. As I wrote -Great idea. You will honestly be educating me. Thanks! However, if I'm proven ignorant, that still will not alter my knowledge of this being a very old idea or the fact that a TPGS has added this series to their list of multi-holders. I'll read your answer tomorrow.
I think they won't do it. As a general rule they stopped doing multicoin holders about 10 years ago. Every now and then you will see a few done for a major large submission dealer but not for the average Joe. This looks like something special PCGS had made up for a display or something, Notice these are listed as SAMPLE slabs, but these are NOT the kind of coins that PCGS would just hand out as Samples.
Let's mess with their minds and make more money at the same time. We can even put a single tube of Vaseline in the slab, so they don't feel the pain. Wow what a great idea, our logo can be "Buy the slab and have a dab no pain all gain." DUH!
Conder101, posted: "Then they have made changes I didn't know about." I wrote the same thing about that "new" (?) sample slab that I was unaware of. Then, @baseball21 admonished me. I was very disappointed to read this when he didn't directly answer my serious question about other Commemorative coin sets: "Forget it, its dumb to play dumb games."
