I made a joke to a friend that I'm glad no one would try collecting JC portrait aurei by die variety and now I'm not so sure...

Caesar seems to be always portrayed with a thin neck…Most of the other famous ones seem fat in the neck.

 

Hey, that neck sure is out of proportion. It's as long as the entire head. But hey have critique such an envious set of portraits!

 

I was going to say “Four aurei.” Disappointed.

 

I'd be very happy with one! Alas, the prices have had a zero added to them in the last few years. @IdesOfMarch01 and @jdmKY are lucky to have their superb examples already.

I recall an episode of "Pawn Stars" where some guy came in who had one and wanted $4g. They had their expert come in and advised them that it was a no go! Possibly for resale profit? This was a while ago just before I became interested in Roman coins. Whether that triggered my interest I am not sure.
