    This week

I was happy with last weeks 57 40% halves and I will never find all the Walkers and Franklins like some of you all but by my standards, I had my best week this week. Picked up 5 boxes early in the week all Brinks.

    Box 1 62 40%'ers
    Box 2 3 40%'ers 1 1977S
    Box 3 1 1964
    Box 4 3 1964, 33 40%'ers
    Box 5 3 1964, 1976S, 13 40%'ers

7 1964's is big for me as I rarely find them. The 119 silver halves is the most I have ever found searching. The best part was I did not even "search" any banks. 4 came from my normal bank orders and 1 came from one of my tellers calling me when they got a box by mistake (Box 5)

Erin PS I WANT SOME OF THOSE FRANKLINS lol

Do you guys just call the banks and order the halves? I asked one of my banks today and they said they could not order halves. Should I go to a bigger bank?
Those are some great numbers guys. Newb question but how many of the 90% make a once of silver?
    Thanks

I've found one (1967) in excellent condition, but it's not worth the cost of grading. I don't have nearly as many as Bob, Erin and some others, but I bought square coin tubes from an Ebay seller to store the halves. They make them for all coin sizes and the square ones store nicely with each other.

TPG = Third-Party Grading (for example: PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc.)

I ordered my halves at the counter. In fact, now it is a standing order each week that I pick up on Friday. I was fortunate in that several local branches of my bank, Wachovia, are willing to order just about anything I want. If you are serious about searching halves, I'd ask other banks in your area if they would order for you, and when you find one, open at least a zero or low minimum balance account there. If you find you like their service better, switch banks completely. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I will definately go out there and see who I can get to order for me. I am a member of three differant banks but did not check the rest when the one said they couldnt order halves any more. Thanks again

There are 0.36169 ounces of silver in one 90% silver half, so 3 halves make just over one ounce of silver.

Cool, thanks. I can see now why some of you guys are doing this since silver is at 17 dollars an ounce. Do you guys keep the coins or sell them for the silver. I hope you keep them. I know I would ;)

Just went through 10 rolls of half dollars. 1 1965, 1 1967 and 1 1983-D missing FG. All others common.

Wow Erin (AggieCollector), your last two weeks have been phenomenal! In your five boxes, you collected well over 100 silver halves. You've passed me up as far as totals.....

One box today, and $5.50 in loose haves. In the loose halves, 3 40%ers
    The box had 1 64 and 8 40%ers 5 of them look AU+. So, not a bad day. :)

I guess I was due big time. Counting these last two weeks (Which really went Wednesday to Wednesday) I found more in 8 days (176 silver halves) than I had in the last 4 months combined. Now I am sure I will go another 6 months without find much of anything lol.
