    A beautiful Franklin Half and just missed full bell lines. At least it graded as a gem. 13,053,750 minted, not a lot but not a few either. The older PCGS green label at MS-65.

    Nice coin. Great luster. The lines in the fields by the face cost it a high gem grade. With that luster, it would have otherwise graded higher. The reverse is 67 or better for sure.

    @Morgandude11

    Don‘t you think those lines are from the die and thus pmd?

    That die did not receive much love. Still a beautiful coin though.

    If a condition comes from the die it can not be PMD. PMD occurs after the strike.

    Definitely die markers. I think it did influence the grade, though. Since they are obvious, it did impact upon the grade.

    And you see this a lot on Franklins ....great luster but soft strike and polish lines .

    I had at one time a unc bank roll of 1963 Franklin every one had lamination issues flaking off around the outer rim on both obv.& rev. Now if this roll was from the teens ,twenties,thirties & forties...yeah as very commonplace in those years...but a 63....sold for melt....

    I think it could upgrade to a 66.
