I hear different thoughts, what do you think will hold more future value the walkers or commemoratives?
I have heard for at least the last 5 years that classic commemoratives are ice cold. The problem is that I still can't afford them. BTW, your question is impossible to answer honestly other than to say I have no idea.
Exactly. It depends on which coins you are talking about here. As far as overall series, the classic commemoratives have more variety and still have't achieved their full potential so I might slightly favor them over the Walkers. TC
Toooooooooooooooooo, w i d e a question. First are you talking about Walking Liberty Half Dollars 1916-1947? I sort of get the feeling you may be thinking the walking liberty on American Silver eagles or??? If half dollars what grades, which dates, TPG or??? Second which commemoritives? Modern 1982 to date or classics from 1892 to 1954??? Again, what grades, which dates, TPG or???
Not meant to hi-jack the OP's original question . . . TopcatCoin - care to elaborate why you feel the classic, or early commemoratives have not achieved full potential? Is it collectible potential, market potential, etc? I have an interest in collecting some of these coins. TIA...
It is just my opinion, but I think that some of the classic commemoratives have not fully actualized in both collectible and market potential. Some have really cool designs and very limited mintages. There are great stories behind many of these coins as well. I find them to be in the category of under-appreciated. As some of these coins start to cross their century mark from year of issue, perhaps there may be increased interest/admiration for them. If the US Mint issues a new commemorative related to the original event (+100 years), then watch for certain coins to increase in value. I am glad to hear you have an interest in collecting some of these coins. I sure do as well. TC
