You are at the top of your game CN. Some people just don’t know how to say they are jealous. Thanks again keep them coming.
Think of all the clips you've seen, single, double, triple. Each of those planchets went through the entire process and got through the riddlers after being struck. I cannot tell you how it happens BUT all kinds of clips exist both curved, straight, and ragged. I'm are not disputing clips, I'm disputing what the one in this thread is being called. It does not have a hole! The "blowhole" example does. In that case, when the coin was struck, the missing part of the planchet CLOSED UP at the edge to give the coin a complete but flawed EDGE yet leaving a hole due to a lack of planchet metal to fill it. Curved clips have a lack of planchet metal to fill the die space also.
I’m still thinking ragged clip is an out dated term. I just don’t get the term ????Whats a clip jagged or nic
The term is not outdated, just used incorrectly like a lot of error coin terminology. It is a valid and useful term used to describe a certain type of error. https://www.error-ref.com/_ragged_clips_/ https://www.error-ref.com/blanking-and-cutting-errors/
Each of those planchets went through the entire process and got through the riddlers after being punched. It really only takes the misuse of one word to add confusion to the thing we are trying to make clearer and understandable for others to comprehend. We all do it at some time or other. I also dispute what the coin in this thread is being called. That is why I posted links to error-ref.com. I'm not trying to say it is "this or that", I'm just sharing the info so those that really want to know have that opportunity. As far as I am concerned error-ref.com is the first and foremost reference the numismatic community will ever have to comprehend the "error coin" side of this wonderful hobby.
I should also say she has a gas driven weed wacker and leaf blower. We take care of her mothers yard, all 20 acres including the 7 acres that we mow. I do the riding mower and she wacks, blows and mows where I can’t get. She’s always done hours before me but when we’re finished, the yard looks great. We’re a good team when it comes to outdoor work.
