I found this coin not to long ago and doubled check if there was an error for a 1963 Nickel and saw it in a micro camera
There are 85 listed DDR for 1963 http://varietyvista.com/04b JN DD Vol 2/DDR Listings.htm please perform due diligence and narrow it down so we can give some opinions. Learning comes from experience and familiarity, it is difficult to learn much by always asking others to do the research. This is intended as constructive criticism not as a personal attack, to hopefully impress upon you that it is in your own interest to learn the differences. This way you can start to narrow down those coins with something interesting from the rest (Damage, worn and deteriorated dies). FYI doubling is not an error, it is a variety as it appears on all coins struck by the doubled die until that die is retired.
No, I do not feel like i am being attacked. I do watch video clips online that has been graded with Doubling and usually the youtuber will zoom in and show an example so that I can get use to telling the difference between md, shifted, doubling, or even triple. But I did compare this coin to the coin that was a DDR in the videos and it does look like how the others looked like. You are right, I need to narrow it down but I was a bit excited to find a DDR Jefferson that is in good condition.
Hey! Just my 2 Cents. Be careful of those Internet video's on Utube. Most are Scams! The only person's channel that I will watch is one particular person named Daniel over at Coinauctionshelp.com Lastly, if a coin has, what, 85 possible DDR's than what desirability does it have to a collector? Especially if it is hard to see. JMO.
Just to make things easier 72 of those 85 DDO's are Proofs. Your Jefferson is not a proof. See if you can narrow your search down to a few possible. I would be glad to help you figure out which one from there. Good luck Arbie.
Thanks, I will check him out. Would it be a scam in the videos they are showing the coins that has been sold in auction and if the coin has been graded? I never knew there was so many ddr for this date and had to be a proof set. The grade of this coin should be in good condition and should have a little value?
In my opinion watching videos about coins on YouTube is not considered research!! Very few, if any, on there are real experts with knowledge about coins! Just one thought for you to consider, there are a lot of fake coins on eBay and You Tube and it is easy for a novice collector to be mislead! Viewer/buyer beware!!!!!
I learned that fast and on eBay and Etsy as well to be beware of what one states about a coin. That’s what got me into posting, let’s say I get into trouble. Lol.
Brian's Variety Coins lists 161 DDR varieties. Only about 20 apply to business strikes. And there are 2 Master Hub doubled varieties.
I believe it is the Yes, I agree there are a lot of incorrect labeling to the coin details when it is sold raw. But I do trust other You Tube Channels that stream about coins. They provide you the full image that shows the grade and what type of coin. Then he will zoom into the coin and reviews it in the channel. You will learn and see so that you have an idea how one certain type of error looks like. I do believe the coin minting world is a very large world and.... needs years or even a decade to be a pro. But in the mean time while I learn, I love to hunt for coins. I am very excited and I do not want to be that person who had a coin in his hand and put it back in the bucket to return back. But, yes I will try to learn more as I can. This forum has already helped me so much.
