I was lucky enough to purchase 3 boxes of half dollars today. Two boxes were the double layer of 5x5 rolls while the 3rd box was a single layer 5x10 roll box. Results: Box 1: 3xNIFC (2003P, 2010P, 2011P) Box 2: 2xNIFC (2011P, 2021P) Box 3: 117xNIFC (2012D, 26x2020P, 35x2020D, 23x2021P, 32x2021D) Too bad all those shiny edges weren't silver edges. The coins are in pretty good shape although some dings from the coin rolling machine. I'll pull out a few for my collection but are these worth saving? Any premium for these? Or should I throw them back in the bag and take them to the bank?
FYI - the 2021s are not NIFC. They made them for circulation last year to help with the coin shortage I think. Not worth more than face. The rest are meh and I'd toss em back as well.
I believe the 2020 and 2021 although technically NIFC were dumped into circulation by the feds during the coin shortage. Keep a few of the best and dump the rest. Although.....I find it hard to resist a shiny Kennedy.
2020 only had 5.7mil halves minted (both P&dD). 2021 had 13.1mil halves minted (both P&D). 2021 were most definitely made to be released into circulation. I don't believe 2020s were.
Eh, all good I thought I hit the jackpot when I got my first solid 21P box of halves....then the 2nd one and 3rd one had me questioning lol.
