A rather rough, (but not without charm), example of this interesting denomination. I find it interesting how this particular design emulates the Roma Seated design used in Nero's dupondii and sestertii. As best as I can determine this is RIC 550: Nero. Semis circa 66, IMP NERO CAESAR AVG Bare head r. Rev. PONTIF MAX – TR POT PP Roma seated l. with wreath and parazonium ; in exergue, S C . RIC 550
Very cool reverse! Good reminder that I need to up my Rome Nero bronzes. Here's a provincial of him as a boy;
Congratulations to this nice and rare coin. I love Nero's Semisses from Lugdunum on those big flans. Not quite, I think it's an RIC 249 var. The reverse legend reads PONTIF MAX TR POT IMP P / S C, while the normal RIC 249 reads PONTIF MAX TR POT IMP P P / S C.
