Does anybody know anything about this coin?? It's one of the coins I got after my grandfather passed.

    I know it's a commemorative piece, but that's about all I know!

Thanks in advance to those who respond.

I may be wrong but I believe it's just a normal Kennedy Bicentennial Half Dollar that has been gold plated and counterpunched 1960-1980 by a private company.

It may have been sold on television.

I just recently found one just like it. Why counterpunched 1960 and 1980.....what is the significance?

Hmmm, interesting. It wouldn't surprise me, I think he liked to buy the "special tv deals" from time to time.

I would guess the 20th anniversary of JFK's election.

I found this recently in a roll, although it was a 1974 and it had the exact same 1960 1980 dates stamped on it.
