Does anybody know anything about this coin?? It's one of the coins I got after my grandfather passed. I know it's a commemorative piece, but that's about all I know! Thanks in advance to those who respond.
I may be wrong but I believe it's just a normal Kennedy Bicentennial Half Dollar that has been gold plated and counterpunched 1960-1980 by a private company. It may have been sold on television.
I just recently found one just like it. Why counterpunched 1960 and 1980.....what is the significance?
Hmmm, interesting. It wouldn't surprise me, I think he liked to buy the "special tv deals" from time to time.
I have found several of these in circulation so far. They are gold plated and the counterstamp has to do with JFK's birthday or the anniversary of the coin or something. http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?p=1669041
I found this recently in a roll, although it was a 1974 and it had the exact same 1960 1980 dates stamped on it.
