Well I don't hate them, hate them, but am getting close. LoL.

Went into a gas station earlier on, bought some gas and munchies, then went out to my car to see what kinda change I received. Another damn Canadian cent (I'm close to the Mexican border in southern California), so I thought "right, I'm gonna go buy a pack of gum and give it straight back".

Two minutes later, gum on the counter, I hand the cashier the change and guess what, she refuses to accept it back :loud:.

I didn't bother arguing, but this is really starting to... make me angry. This station is now added onto my X list.

Haha, I say the same about canadian nickels. I had a whole small jar full of them from change and I think the coins are ugly as heck. Ended up getting rid of them in various ways.

These things are like an albatross; you can't even give them away. You can't ship them to Canada because of the costs. Even when someone is driving up the reduced MPG almost exceeds their value. The recyclers around here won't even take them because they think it's illegal to melt them.

Some day someone will want to make a copper sculpture and I know where they'll get the metal.

Oh, oh...with more and more of our Canadian brethren arriving here each day I'd say 'look out below".

Still, know exactly what you're goin' through, only in my neck of the woods it's those darned Bahamian coins that are exactly the same size as our beloved quarter. Every time I try to recycle 'em back to the place of origin I get the same results as you. :D

Funniest post I've read in the six months I've been on CT. Too true.

I'm just ranting. Had I not been to Canada getting one or two Canuck coins would be cool, but I so many Canadian cents from the banks and stores and still I haven't seen a Mexican coin in my hand this side of the border... I live 20 minutes from the Mexican border vs 2,000 miles of so from the Canadian.

I mean crap, I can't even use the bloody things in a vending machine either, LoL.

I lived in Canada for a couple of years and loved it. I started saving their coins including the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, loonie, and twonie. Whenever I find them in change in the US, I consider it good luck. I catolog them and add them to my collection. It is a great day!

I've got a tuppaware thing sitting full of British coins in general. About 5 bucks in Canadian including 65 pennies. All found in circulation as well. The old ones are nice but the Queen Elizabeth ones are boring. I look at rolled quarters from the side to search for silver and I've gotten my hopes up several times, only to find out it's Canadian.

I live 10 miles from the border, near Windsor, Ontario.

I have no problem with Canadian money. It spends freely in the Detroit area, at par. If you're in a pub or in the casino, and spending bills, they discount it by whatever the exchange rate is that day, but it still spends. Their coins circulate freely here, and I have no problem with accepting them as good.

You've already had one offer to exchange them for US coins. How about the Advertising section here, I gave a bunch to a CT'er some time back for his son. It's worth a postage stamp to encourage a young collector.

too late.... I am not impressed, but to each his own..
Hey, Mr. Opening post, give me the green light and I'll show you some Canadian cents that would make you forget all about American pennies, and you would be writing an apology letter to the Canadian mint.

Although, like I said before, "to each his own."

This post is a ****ing joke.
You know the American cent, and the Canadian cent is less than 3% different... right?
    Don't be ignorant.
